Fall leaves are beautiful – until they pile up in your yard. Don’t send those precious nutrients up in smoke. Instead, put those nuisance leaf piles to good use. Leaves, small branches and other landscape materials can nourish your lawn, garden or community. It’s easy: Compost. Composting leaves and food scraps is a great way to turn this waste into garden nutrients.

The scholarships are in honor of three pioneers in Keep Iowa Beautiful's 21-year history:Bob Byers--Educator. Through Bob's leadership, KIB's Litter-Free School Campus program was started in NW Iowa.

Western Governors University Launches New Scholarship for First Responders
In honor of National First Responders Day, which takes place annually on Oct. 28, Western Governors University (WGU) is launching a new scholarship to show appreciation for first responders – including EMTs, police officers, firefighters, corrections officers and others – who have demonstrated unprecedented selflessness and commitment in serving area communities as they carried out their duties throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Gallop's spring 2021 poll findings, 46% of U.S. adults have a will that indicates plans for their money and estate after their death. This number has hovered at around the half mark since 1990.
